November: Kara Ko

Who in your dance life are you most grateful for?

It is really honestly very difficult to pinpoint exactly one person that I am grateful for throughout my dance journey. There are quite a few people that have influenced me as not only a dancer, but also as a person. In my dance journey, I am grateful for…

  • My dance professors at ASU: Karen Schupp, Jessica Rajko, Cynthia Roses-Thema, Cari Koch, Melissa Britt, Mary Fitzgerald, Pegge Vissicaro, and Eileen Standley. With some of the names listed, I have only been in their class for at the most seven weeks, however with their incredible knowledge and expertise, it has truly influenced me. Why? Because they care. They are extremely humble and they are for you and your education. And I absolutely love that.

  • My Class of 2018 Dance Majors: Some of them have become my best and closest friends. Our bond and love for dance is incredible. I am grateful for them because they constantly push me to become a better dancer, choreographer and teacher. Without their guidance and support, I would not be where I am today.

  • ALL of my students that I teach at Aspire Kids Sports Center: Their sass, spunk, and high energy puts a smile on face every time I teach them. Even when I am having an “off” day, they always seem to amaze me and place me in a better mood.

  • ALL of my students that I teach at INSPIRE Entertainment: As a new instructor coming in, it has been nothing but a wonderful experience. Working with girls with such dedication, hard work, and talent makes me so entirely grateful and humble. Their love and encouragement is why I love to teach dance, which is so special to me. I love the INSPIRE Entertainment family (owners, instructors, and students)!!!

  • My family: Without their constant support and love, none of this would be happening. I give many thanks to my parents and my two sisters for everything they have done to make my dreams possible.

  • Cedar Park Dance Company: Grateful for many amazing memories with dancers and instructors. It always amazes me to see this studio grow and grow. My love will never be lost for CPDC. This is where my dance journey started, so therefore I am so thankful for everyone who has helped me get to where I am now.

  • Texas Future Dance Educators: Without TFDE, I wouldn’t even be here blogging. This past year has been such a great blessing working with great individuals, especially Karen Searles for making all of this possible! Writing has been a new passion of mine, so I am grateful to be sharing my stories and experiences with all of you lovely people.
