POST: What does your schedule look like for next year, what kind of classes (dance and academic) will you be taking and what are you looking forward to next year
Next year I will be taking some new and challenging dance classes. I am set to take Advanced Ballet, Advanced Modern, Composition II, and a Performance Workshop! I am very excited to be closing out my freshman year and to be starting as a sophomore in the spring. As I am taking more advanced classes, the hours become longer. Advanced Modern is scheduled for three days a week! As opposed to the standard dance class which is only two days a week. Modern in a great way to connect with the body, and I am looking forward to taking it more during the week. The Performance workshop is really fun, because it is, as you might expect, a show! At the end of the class, students perform a jazz Nutcracker featuring the music of the great Duke Ellington.
Composition II is interesting because it is solo studies. I have a passion for and hope to do some choreography in that class. Ballet is my favorite dance style so I am excited to be taking that again next semester. Strutters are holding auditions for returning members soon. I will definitely be trying out again. I could not have asked for a better group of girls to help me through my first year of college. I feel like a part of a family that I hope I never have to leave. Watching the fourth years dance their last show this past weekend reminds me one day I will have to leave. I will miss the graduating girls and am glad I was able to learn from them before they left.
What I am most looking forward to next year is living in an apartment! Out of all the things, I really think that is what I am most excited about. Not the new dance classes, but the fact that I get to live in a place that has my own room and especially my own bathroom. I don’t want to scare people away from dorms since most people, like me, have to stay on campus the first year of college. However, I will say some people do not know how to share a bathroom. That is all. I am very happy that this year went so well and that I met so many wonderful people. I cannot wait until the next!
