POST: What are your goals/New Year's Resolutions for yourself as a dancer /student?
This year I would like to keep my grades up. I am taking more hours than my first
semester, and some of my classes are expected to be harder. In all I am taking five dances classes and
three core. My dance team the Strutters
is arguably busier than it was last semester.
Seems like we have an event pretty much every week. I am definitely nervous about my ability to
manage time this New Year while trying to keep a level head. My goal is to keep on top of my grades by
scheduling time to study and read texts.
Also I want to schedule time to relax/have fun! While it is important to
study, I have come to realize that I am useless if I don’t have a nap, or hang
out with friends once and a while.
Because I am expecting to be busier than last semester I am not only
keeping a planner, but also a wall calendar and a day by day list on my
phone. Gotta love that notes app. With electronic and written notes I feel
confident I can keep on top of my schedule and ultimately keep my grades high!
Another goal
that I have for this New Year is to continue growing as a performer in
dance. Over my last semester I felt that
I grew a lot in my performance quality.
Maybe it was because Strutters is always asking for more, or maybe my confidence
just decided to grow. Whatever happened
I feel as though I am dancing bigger and better than ever before. I still have a long ways to go of course, and
everyone says there is always room for improvement. This year I would like to continue improving. I want the world to see dance the way I
imagine myself in my head, and not in the way it sometimes comes across
looking. I think I am performing but
actually I can sometimes be quite mediocre.
If there is one thing I have learned bout myself, its that even when I
feel like I look like an idiot, its probably still not enough. I am looking forward to this year, and can I
just say how relieved I am that I just survived my first semester of college! Hope I can survive the next, and good luck to
all for 2015!
